In The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis wrote that beauty is meant to be a doorway, inviting us into something deeper. These flowers do that for me. The sight of them fills my heart with wonder and gratitude. Peonies are one of the most extroverted flowers out there. They’re luscious, sensual, fragrant, and demand an audience. Enjoy!
All photos were made with a Canon 7d Mark 3 and a 100 f 2.8 lens or with my iPhone 4. Some images were originally shot using my favorite photo app: Hipstamatic. All photos are for sale.

these are stunning photos of a gorgeous flower.
thank you for introducing me to a peony.
sadly I am 60 years old and these are my first peonies.
I grew up in Florida and have lived here most of my life
Never too old to experience another specimen of God’s handiwork.
thank you for enlarging my world through your photos.
I am glad that you know now about these beauties. Also sure that there are amazing flowers in FL that I’ve never seen!
I love peonies, too. The photos are gorgeous, and I especially like the interesting one with the ants.
When I was a kid, my sisters and I would get very irritated with any on our peonies! Now we know they are eating bad bugs and drinking the nectar.
Oh my goodness! The flower I miss the most from my home state. Feel sorry for me too, I’m in Florida–beautiful skies, shores, springs, palms, and hibiscus, but no peonies! Thank you for sharing these photos! I will favorite this and gaze at them often. 🙂
I did not know that peonies could not grow down south. Thanks for stopping by.
Extravagant beauty! I love peonies. You camera reveals the glory God has put in them. Thank you so much for sharing your art and God’s handiwork .
Thaks for stopping by and letting me know Kathleen. Have a great week.
I’ve never been a peony lover. But then I’ve never been up close and personal like this either. Thank you for gorgeous treat this fine Saturday morning.
Thanks for stopping by and for letting me know. I can get a bit compulsive photographing these beauties so it’s good to know others enjoy them too.
They are amazing. I try to add one bush a year to our garden. That’s how much I like them.
Stunning! Just lovely! Thank you for sharing! There are no peonies in Southern CA, and I miss them!
I know you have many other lovely flowering plants that we do not but I feel sorry that you don’t get to see these each spring.
